How can public spaces adapt real-time to users’ needs?

Test-site Arena boulevard
Co-ReUS is a 2-year action-research project on responsive public space. The project takes place in the Chair of Urban Design by lector Frank Suurenbroek of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Amsterdam. Together with researchers from Digital Media and Creative Industry (DMCI) faculty and a broad consortium of: urban planners, interactive concept developers, and local stakeholders. Currently, the ArenA Boulevard is limited in its function, as it is mainly used as a passageway. Therefore, several spatial interactive interventions are in the preparation process in order to transform the public space into a vestibule conceived of an attractive living environment.
